本模板的用意是為了迴避{{Cite journal}}中所出現的全形標點符號，例如，或「」，這些符號有些可能只會出現在繁體版本，此外也是為了避免在英語文獻中穿插中文字（例如「2004年」）。相關指引參見CITE。
此模板專門使用於英語文獻或其他相同格式的語言。由於中文版與英文版的內部連結並不一致，請儘量不要直接套用英文版的內部連結。例如「July 4」。

欄位參數
- quotes: 引號，輸入no可使文獻標題兩側不顯示引號。（預設狀態帶有引號）。
- author: 作者
- last: lastname，通常是姓氏。
- first: firstname，可用縮寫。

- url: 線上版本連結。
- format: 「PDF」格式。不用指出 HTML 格式，因為 HTML 是默認格式。
- 指定為 'fee required' 如果訪問有限制，則需指明。反之則不必要。
- 指定為 'Reprint' 如果文檔是個完全原創的不歸屬任何出版商的文檔時使用。

- accessdate: URL 最後一次查看的日期，格式為 ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD。 比如， "accessdate = 2025-10-30". 不需要賦以維基連結。
當需要生成一個非Wiki內鏈的日期時：
- accessmonthday and accessyear: 資料查看時的月份和天。例如： 「accessmonthday = 5月10日」,配合年份「accessyear = 2006」這樣的寫法。 生成值為: 2006-05-10
- laysummary: 論文總結地址，多用於科普雜誌或者報紙。
- laysource: 來源名稱，例如，「女神」或者「電擊」。
- laydate: 文章發表日，當不可用時，則為引用總結的日期。
- quote: 雜誌的相關摘錄信息。
